Project 3: Bouncy Ball

My animation has three characters. A bouncy ball bounces on another bouncy ball, and then encourages its bowling ball friend to partake. Everyone gets to partake in the fun.

Principle 1: Squash and Stretch

I used squash and stretch throughout, both to give information about the material of the balls (having the rubber balls be more elastic and bouncy while the bowling ball was much less so) and to make movements seem more realistic (squashing upon landing and before jumping, and stretching at highest speeds).

Principle 2: Anticipation

I used this when the bowling ball hovered in the air for a second after jumping, before it started to fall.

Principle 3: Exaggeration

This was used when the bowling ball landed on the yellow ball, and it stayed there for a few extra beats.

I also used a little bit of secondary action when the balls would crouch on their own to emphasize the primary action of jumping off the ledge. I used staging and the rule of thirds at the end of the animation, when the yellow ball appears a little to the right in the screen and moves off.
