Project 2: Treasure Chest

Sophia Morakis, 3/3/22

This is the chest I decided to model and this is my final result. I found the chest on Google Images (sources below).

I ran into so many problems along the way.  I learned so much about polygons, beveling (so much beveling), modeling, and the UV editor. I wasn't able to bevel all of the cutouts on the sides because my polygon mesh was messed up from earlier things I did, and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. The curved cutouts on the front and back were also really tricky, and I had to do a lot of experimenting to make a smoother, broader curve to match the picture.

I also did a lot with the UV Editor, which was, as one Maya user wrote in a forum, "amazingly slow." I tried to make the wood grain as close to the original as possible in terms of direction, but it doesn't really show up that much on the final product. Overall, I'm happy with the way it turned out!
